An inquiry-based learning means several things. My son is so curios, he wants to know everything you are doing. He is always looking for information on things. My husband seeks for the truth; for example if our children’s teacher come to us and tell us that our son or daughter behaves bad at school today or did something’s wrong; he will make sure that he get the fact because some teachers lie on students. Elijah will ask you questions until he gets an answer. I was told that my son will keep that process of inquiry the end of the world. Whatever I’m doing either cooking, cleaning the house, studying for tests, doing the laundry, doing grocery shopping, he is always asking questions. My daughter Zahra now eleven months old, start observing familiar faces that gets near her. If she does not recognize the face, she will cry. She always putting things in her mouth whatever she finds on her way.
However, in this society our school boards system has found way that discourages the process of inquiry. Students are less involved in school. They don’t ask questions anymore and when they do, it is non sense question. Children today seems to believe they can purchase their knowledge; therefore, the seems not to care anymore. In some schools, students are asked to listen and take notes and ask less possible questions. The discouragement comes from our parents who don’t believe that the natural process starts from the day that the child is born. Concept to classroom stated “Educators must understand that schools need to go beyond data and information accumulation and move toward the generation of useful and applicable knowledge “In the past, our country's development depended on our supply of natural resources. But today, it depends upon a smart workforce."
The discipline is very important with no meaning to itself. The knowledge of it changes and expands every day. Everyone will be able to develop the learning skills knowledge throughout their lives but not one can learn everything. We have to sometimes investigate to follow the knowledge. According to Youth Learn, “It may be that traditional education will start becoming more and more like inquiry-based learning over time. Why? Because an inquiry-based approach is more web-like in how students pursue knowledge, as opposed to the linear, vertical and compartmentalized structure of traditional education. As the web-like Internet increasingly permeates society and education, the traditional structures will have to adapt to the forms of the new media”.
